Provisional tax
Pre-paying income tax in instalments through the year.
Once your residual income tax for a year exceeds $5,000, IRD requires provisional tax — paying instalments toward next year's bill. Three instalments: late August, mid-January, early May. Smoko doesn't file provisional tax (we focus on GST), but we keep your income data clean for your accountant or AIM/Standard calculations.
